About Qwowi
Qwowi • kwou-ē • Adj.
The word “Qwowi” was coined several years ago by a member of our review staff. Although it took some time to agree on the spelling, we believe anyone can understand the meaning.
Originally “Qwowi” was used to describe the sensation that occurs when you’re unable to take another bite of your exceptionally delicious dessert because, no matter how much you may want to, it’s simply too rich, too decadent to finish.
At Qwowi.com we’ve adapted the meaning our word to apply to consumer good and services; the things we use every day. We’re constantly on the look out for Qwowi products; the best of the best.
As the site continues to grow, you’ll be hearing plenty about the great products that leave us totally qwow’d, and no doubt a few that fall short, leaving us feeling less than qwowi.
The Site
First and foremost Qwowi is a product review website (although we do occasionally comment on new product announcements). Here at Qwowi we pride ourselves on the thoroughness of our reviews. While many other so-called reviews sites provide little more than 300 words of product introduction or overview (the kind of information you can find 500 other places), our approach is very much hands on.
We won’t write a review until we’ve spent enough time with a product to really get a feel for how it works. We like to get our hands dirty. The attention we pay to the details of each product we review is second to none; which is why it’s not uncommon for a Qwowi review to far exceed 1000 words. Of course no two of our reviewers are the same, the the length and overall tone of the review will vary from writer to writer. Nonetheless, we believe our reviews are among the most complete and well thought-out anywhere.
Beginning with our 2008 Tech Gift Guide, we’ve narrowed our focus a bit. While we’ll continue to review products just as we always have, over the coming weeks and months we’ll be grouping similar products into “theme weeks” (or possibly theme fortnights, or theme months depending on the volume or requests we receive).
With 2009 upon us, we’re already making plans for Kitchen Week, Green Week, Home Fitness Week, Golf Week, and much, much more. Check back often for reviews of new, exciting and innovative products from the names you already know, and some you may not.
About the Review Staff
Our reviews staff is a comprised of a diverse collection of writers who provide thoughtful, and independent product reviews; each from the writer’s own unique perspective. That individually is reflected in all aspects of this site; our product categories, the individual products we choose to review, and of course, the individual writing style of each reviewer.
Each member of our staff hand chooses the products that he or she wants to review. Sometimes our products are provided by the manufacturer, other times we review products we’ve purchased. We are, after all, consumers at heart. Regardless of the source, products are chosen for Qwowi because they interest us, and that interest leads to an inherent enthusiasm that comes through in each and every one of our reviews.
